Since Tab is extremely familiar with the youth we have and this pretty much starts the new cycle , will a guy like Miazga see more consistent call ups ?

Also will be began to see the new crop of guys get their chance like Hyndman, Mckennie, Adams, Gooch, Carter-Vickers, Palmer-Brown, Taitague, Lennon, Wright, Green?

Does Horvath take over at Goalie ?

I do understand we have plenty of young players on the current roster that will stay in the mix obviously like Brooks, Yedlin, Arriola, Altidore, Wood, Acosta

You're going to get this with whoever we hire as interim.

I know the national team shouldn't be used as a training ground, but I'd be fine if the older guys never played again. Basically if they'll be too old to play in 2022 WCQ then I don't see the point in playing them at all. Howard and Dempsey obviously fall into that. Bradley and Cameron are close to that. Fabs is done. He's above playing unless it's a "big match" and we don't have any of those until he's washed up.

Horvath is the keeper of the future- he should be the #1 moving forward. Get these young midfielders in to take their lumps and get used to playing together. Gooch, Hyndman, Adams, Saief. EPB, CCV, Miazga at the back...I just don't see the point in trotting out the guys that we know won't play in meaningful games for friendlies when we could be building chemistry

Cameron is already 32. Fab was probably going to retire after 2018.

I had not heard of Bill Hamid, Sean Johnson and William Yarbrough's untimely passing.

RIP to all three.

At this point, I think Horvath is just as qualified as any of them.

I agree with the strategy but I'd pump the breaks slightly on this sentiment. You want some of those guys around for leadership/mentorship of the younger guys. Those old dogs can pass on their tricks even if they can't perform themselves

I'd carry some of the better ones around as long as they provide some value in a backup, very limited minutes role + are good "locker room presence"

I agree with your statement but watch out, Broski is gonna want to challenge you to a cage match. You better have proof that he is "above playing".

There is proof. He has an agreement with Bruce that he would only be called up for important matches.

That's what Johnson told Bild. But he wasn't called in for the most important qualifiers. Was it Bruce's idea or did Johnson not want to come? It was said that Bruce thought he had better options at this time but..........

Well, yeah. Johnson has barely even been playing for Gladbach.

Only being called in for the most important games does not equal being required to be called up.

Johnson at 50% is better than what Bruce threw out there. shite tactics and shite roster selection.

Nagbe and Arriola? No.

Ask yourself this, could Nagbe or Arriola sniff minutes for Gladbach no less make their first team?

Anyway, back to the topic. I hope he uses the youngsters. It's about 2022 now so preparing the youth is vital. We got caught with either players with little to no experience or players too old. That 22-28 age group is/was lacking for the most part.

If both were 100%, I'd take Nagbe over Johnson. Johnson will probably lose more minutes once Grifo is 100%.

Neither Johnson nor Arriola would steal minutes from Hazard at RW, but I would take a 100% Arriola over a 50% Johnson.

Johnson really hasn't looked that good this season.

I'm saying all of this as a Gladbach fan.

Germany won the confederations cup with it's youth backups...I get where you are coming from, but there is an argument to be made that we need to move forward with a clean sheet and develop new leaders. The way the older guys have done things has not worked. You can't teach an old dog new tricks, and frankly, I'm not sure if I want our old dogs influencing our young ones with their old tricks that couldn't even get them to qualify for the WC. I don't want Dempsey's pouty attitude influencing our young players. Pulisic should be the leader and captain from here on out. I realize he's young, but he's learned a lot over the past couple of years, is our best player, and is the only one on the team that starts for a team in the Champions League.

Anyone know why Joe Bendik hasn’t gotten a look? Is there an obvious quality he doesn’t hold that I have failed to recognize? The guy seems to make unreal saves on a consistent basis, even despite having a terrible defense in front of him.

Well, you still have to qualify, if recent events are any evidence.
