He knew the rules and knew that flopping could earn him a yellow card. He knew that Argentina would be favored on receiving a VAR review. With everything at stake, it was one the dumbest decisions of the entire World Cup. What causes someone to abandon all logic in that moment? When you’re already carrying a yellow, why risk doing something that can be so easily reviewed? Then, when you get caught, you cry your eyes out. It just comes across as low intelligence.
