I think AVB has and will...
However, I think we should go after a championship proven coach and make them say no...
For Martinez & Rogers... I just think they are too risky...
However, I just read this article on Martinez's switch to the 3-4-3 on ZM. thats all I really know about him.

Question: How would we FEEL about hiring AVB? I thought he caught the shaft at Chelsea ... mostly because he was stubborn and tried playing his system with guys who were ill-suited for it.
I don't know ... it would certainly be a splashy and controversial hire.

He would have to be given significant funds in the transfer market...
If Chelsea didnt have the players for his system, I surely dont think we do in attack... I think we are ok in defense to deploy his tactics...

I don't think spending money is an issue for FSG, as they are firing frickING EVERYONE.

Main reason AVB didn't succeed at Chelsea is cus Old Guard didnt respect him. I think he might have succeeded because he could offload a bunch of them this summer. That being said Chelsea wouldn't be in CL final if he was still coach so kinda glad he did get the axe.
Would be interesting mainly because Pool would actually give him time.

Here's why I like the idea of AVB ...
There are 3 or 4 (semi-realistic) names that would put a charge around the club's name, for better or maybe even worse: Rafa, Deschamps, Blanc & AVB.
With a new football director (presumably working closely with AVB to find players that suit his style) and significant investment, this team could be back to challenging for Champions League football within 3 years. Problem with that is Financial Fair Play, which is aiming to curb copious spending.
So in that case, you need to build around youth & smart scouting. Basically, I think the Football Director hire is more important than the manager hire right now. Absolutely.

LeBron is behind this. I'm pretty sure. There is only one King in the FSG.

Dude was a film junkie apparently but just didn't connect with our players for whatever reason. I'm interested to follow his career, still wish Roman didn't shitcan Ancelotti. Good luck in the search guys, I'll be keeping an eye out.

Because Chelsea's style, deep defending, direct play, was completely and utterly antithetical to AVB's approach. The same problem might exist for 'Pool, but it might not.

AVB is the heavy favorite right now. It appears that FSG approached him a couple weeks ago. It's really tough to say. I don't like any of the names being thrown around in particular.
I like AVB in theory, but am worried that he won't have the necessary transfer funds.
Rafa seems like a good fit, but I think it's time to move on. If he were to be hired and then failed, would we resurrect Shankly to fill the role?
I don't think Martinez or Rodgers are ready.
I would love a Klopp or Bielsa, but neither will happen.
Maybe Pep wants a real challenge?

Somebody told me tonight that BBC reported that there would be 30M to work with this summer?
Haven't seen this report with my own eyes, so I'll take it with a grain of salt. But that's a good starting number...if spent smartly.

It really all depends on FSG's mindset.
Do they want someone to build on the current squad? If so, AVB isn't the guy. In order for his philosophy to work, he's going to have to bring in big changes to the current squad. But I love his philosophy. It's progressive and enjoyable to watch when done right. Here is a nice summary: LINK
But if they want to build a new squad (kind of like they are with the staff), then AVB is the best available right now. But 30M isn't enough.
I think LFC needs a big name coach. Someone who will walk into the locker room and immediately demand and receive respect. AVB struggled to do that at Chelsea and that worries me.

That's a stewart downing + about half a Jordan Henderson...

Or 5/6 of an Andy Carroll

Any money coming in from player sales? I'm assuming that the 30 million figure would be net. Obviously no money for the likes of kuyt, maxi, cole (whose wages will be subsidized by lfc) or Bellamy
Posted on 5/17/12 at 1:24 am to BobLoblaw
Lots of rumors that Agger and Skrtel are being targeted by other top clubs. Other than that, I don't see too many sales. Kuyt, Aquilani, Maxi and Cole might all bring in 15-20M comined.
