I think England is totally like a psycho chick who thinks you love her. They thought Beckham would be in it, and now that he's gone, it's like they still play thinking he's on the team.

France always starts on a crappy foot, we won't know how good they are till a week from now.

Spain can't hack it.

Italy is God's home team...'nuff said.

Get back to me tommorrow.

I'm not hating on Spain. Kind of wish the strikers were a bit better. Have to wait and see how Torres does.

Spain and England both seem to be playing like they don't know how to be a great team when their best players are sidelined (Beckham) or not 100% (Torres).

It's like both the teams are mentally missing their leaders and they seem disorganized.

Torres is not as important as Villa. This was the first time in my life that I saw Villa play lackluster. The first.

BTW, Torres sucked. I know he's fresh off from an injury, but he booted a beautiful ball from Xavi which left him alone in front of the net.

Beckham isn't England's best player. He has never been.

Spain has a shitton of great players. Their problem is finding a place for all of them in the side. The need more width from the full-backs if they are going to play a wrong-footed player on the wings. They also need runs from deeper in midfield. Their off the ball movement is static.

England's problem has been the same problem they've had since 2006, namely how to field a squad with both Lampard and Gerrard. They don't have a solid distributor, and aren't skilled enough to keep possession with any regularity.

Ain't that the truth!

But what I'm talking about is not athletic ability. When Beckham plays, it's like him just being there sort of inspires the team to be tough and more aggressive.

He's mentally good for the team...they play with more passion. That game against Algeria...wtf was that?

I'm not either. Beckham is only good for his crosses and ability on dead ball situations. He's quite terrible defensively, and can't create crossing opportunities for himself.

Are you kidding? There is nothing about Beckham's play that is tough or aggressive. He's a classic English winger. I'm not sure he inspires them either, considering how shitty the team was under his captaincy.

Like I said, England's problems have to do with the center of the park, and not on the wings. It's been fairly obvious to anyone that you can't field a side that has Gerrard and Lampard. The problem is that they don't have anyone to replace them, someone who can distribute the ball with any efficiency. I suppose they have Carrick, but he was terrible this year for Man U.

You are overrating Beckham's importance in a big way.

Spain didn't play nearly as bad as England, France or Italy. But I agree that they need to start putting the ball in the back of the net

The need to insert Cesc. He takes shots and is a creator at the same time. Some player needs to shoot the ball. You can't pass it into the net at this level.

Even without Iniesta's injury he should be on the pitch. Before his injury he was the best center mid in the EPL this season.

No, Xabi should be the lone containing mid, and Çesc will alleviate pressure on Xavi.

Methinks Silva doesn't get the start, as well as Busquets (obviously).
