The "Fun" thread made me wonder if it is possible to list/estimate the teams that would have qualified using the future 64 team format. You know, to torture ourselves even more.

The common estimation of how the extra spots will be handed out that I've seen is:

FEDERATION - Future# (Current#)
UEFA - 16 (13)
CAF - 9 (5)
AFC - 8.5 (4.5)
CONMEBOL 6 - (4.5)
CONCACAF 6.5 - (3.5)
Oceania 1 - (0.5)
Host Country 1 or more if co-hosted (1)

If this is the correct allotment then most Federations have to tweak their qualifying structure in some way.

UEFA: 3 of Ireland, Italy, Northern Ireland and Greece
CAF: 4 of DR Congo, Zambia, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso or Uganda
AFC: Australia, Syria, Uzbekistan, and United Arab Emirates. China or Iraq in playoff.
CONMEBOL: Peru and Chile
CONCACAF: Honduras, USA, T&T. Jamaica In a playoff.
Oceania: New Zealand

I'd be interested to watch Jamaica play China in a playoff for some reason

Geez - talk about watering down the tournament.

I feel like Uefa should get more spots and AFC and CAF one less each.

We'd still end up with a group of Germany, Chile, and Senegal and lose all 3 though.

So after expansion qualifying for the hex would equal WC qualification?
