It's not that complicated, unless you're that simple.

There are things or actions that automatically award you a yellow, and there are things that automatically award you a red card. Red card means you play down a man for the remainder of the match. Two yellows equal a red.

So, don't do those things, especially if you already have a yellow. They probably should have been playing down 2 honestly.
