I don't think Honduras is THAT much better than El Salvador right now. Especially with Elis being out.

Yeah, I think Honduras is better than El Salvador, but not by leaps and bounds. We are still the more talented side.

He also had Aaronson in front of him being invisible. Maybe it was because Yedlin couldn't get him the ball, or maybe it was on Aaronson.
Yea aaronson really was terrible in the first half. Hard to judge anyone too harshly playing on that field, but aaronson looks far attacking through the middle. He showed a few things in the second half when pushed further up the field but he really did have a tough game too.

After re-watching the game, I was a bit too harsh on Reyna last night. He wasn’t good, but he wasn’t poor, either.
The whole attack was just disjointed. We’d either try to force things that weren’t there or take too long to make a decision and not take an open shot that was there. You could tell this group just hasn’t developed the chemistry yet. They would try to play passing combinations and just couldn’t get them right. Hopefully it looks better on Sunday with Pulisic back.
On the plus side, our center backs were great. El Salvador only had three real chances to score all night. None of them were particularly dangerous to where Turner needed to be spectacular. El Salvador had much more of the ball than I would have liked, but it’s not like they were shelling our goal.
Our fullbacks have to defend better. Yedlin and Dest got torched 1v1 multiple times and set up El Salvador’s only good chances. Dest should never play on the left again, and he’s got to adjust to the physicality of CONCACAF.
Sargent continues to frustrate. He works his arse off and does everything you could want from a forward except the end product. He just struggles to score for the national team, for whatever reason, despite getting in good spots quite often. I hope it work out for him, but we’ve got to get production from the #9 position. It’s been dreadful for a while now.

One thing to be concerned about, speaking of our fullbacks, is that Alphonso Davies might be the best player on the field Sunday night.

Dest looks so uncomfortable in these CONCACAF games. El Salvador played a pretty clean game with limited shithousery but the field was terrible.
Then you have the games like the Nations League game with a pristine field but so much chippiness. You can tell he is totally out of his element in both situations.

This might sound harsh, but I think this is a loser mentality. Anchoring on what's the minimal bar we need to hit to qualify. My POV is the US should have a mindset to finish top of CONCACAF, winning practically every match in qualifiers.
Outside of the 2018 debacle the US won the Hex in 2006, 2010, and 2014. And you don't have to come close to winning every match to do it.
