And, if you thought that I meant that a number of them are, I meant that there are like two who are still relevant to the national team

Altidore, Bradley and (I guess) Adu.

Tony Beltran, Robbie Rogers and Dax McCarty are on the farthest outskirts of the national team, but key contributors to their MLS clubs.

Zizzo and Szetela were capped at least once. Hell, Szetela STARTED a World Cup Qualifier in 2008. It was against Barbados, but still...

That's not terrible.

Look at the 2005 U-20 team... Brad Evans *just* broke through to the national team. People still believe that Kljestan and Feilhaber (and Spector, perhaps?) have more to offer the national team than they currently do.

That's why I try to temper expectations when people promote someone as the next savior. It could be the better part of a decade before they see any meaningful time in a US shirt.... if ever.

Anyway we can get that Adu back?

He sure did have some skill back in the day. Makes you wonder what could have been. I haven't lost all hope for him though. He looked good in the last Gold Cup. Maybe he'll get some time at Bahia and start getting some looks from JK.

I totally understand. That was a GOAT USA U20, and we are sitting here talking about two players. That was my point.

I agree with you. I'm not trying to prove you wrong. I think that you do a very good job of this:

The brilliant part of the team that you posted is is that they prevented Messi from destroying them in the second half that he played. Messi. Chad Barrett scored the winning goal in a game that Messi actually played in.

I wanted to reinforce that we just need someone like Luis Gil to step up in the future.

People are freaking out too much. Those videos correspond to a lost time in football.

Today´s U20 had a good feel to it. Modern, dynamic, quicker mentally. Shackled by no true CBs and the lack of complete attention when pressing high against a lethal side, but it was invaluable experience. Invaluable.

The side, even were these CBs to continue, will look exponentially better, as it will be both calmer and confident. There were a lot of nerves today.

Scratching at the door, scratching at the door.

Be calm.

Dandy, you have more faith in this team than we do.

They won't.

Firstly, Stanko is a midfielder and that shows in his ability to read the game. He played really well as a central midfielder at central defense against the players that he played.

Secondly, Shane O'Neill is returning, and he is the only central defender on the roster to really play as a central defender at a professional level.

Torre might be alright. He settled in in the second half, and he hasn't even consistently played the position at a collegiate level.

I might have gone over the top in this thread, but every single player who played tonight has the ability to play differently than what we saw tonight.

As you've said, Dandy, the team had a lot of really positive things to highlight. This Spain team is really good, and they acquitted themselves fairly well against them.

It's not so much freaking out as just venting. It's not like our U17s got ran the frick over by Tajikistan (that is an actual country and that actually happened--Brek Shea was on that team)

It's amazing isn't it?

The announcer (monologue or bust, that's ESPN's coverage of the U20s) kept on talking about this kid from Barcelona who was suspended for the first half. He came on, Benny Feilhaber actually did a decent job of picking him up, Marvell Wynne's speed did a decent job as well, Messi hit the post, lost, but went on to win the Golden ball and shoe.

ETA: By suspended, I'm pretty sure that he was suspended by Argentina, not FIFA

Seville

Yeah, good choice. Abanico looks well situated.

Now, for Madrid. Only two days, what are you wanting to do, or see?

I don't know. if you only had a day or two in Madrid, what would you want to do? or maybe I should say, what would you recommend a first-time visitor do?
