Agree on Gibbs. I'll be terrified if he's our first choice LB this season.

Gibbs needs some games. Clichy was probably our worst defender the last two years in terms of defensive positioning. He wasn't the same after Birmingham 08, me thinks. Gibbs will be a lot better going forward, and will need help disciplined play from the left sided player in order to be effective.

I don't think Gibbs is a LB, honestly. Clichy hasn't been at his best the past two years, but he wasn't terrible. I think Gibbs is terrible defensively, though he is much better going forward than Clichy. I'm scared of him being our first choice LB and that isn't even considering his penchant for getting injured. I'd much rather use pursue Jose Enrique, or a more likely (read: French) option, Benoit Tremoulinas.

No he isn't, but Wenger has a good track record of producing LB's, so this is one area I won't mind if we don't get a immediate replacement, save for the injury issue. A lot of Gibbs's form will depend on who plays in front of him. If we still play the 4-3-3 variants, I'd like to try Walcott on the left, as he's a bit more willing to track back. It's not like Walcott is particularly useful on the right as a winger, but at least in his role as an out-of-position striker he'll be able to cut in on his right easier on the left side of the field.

Ricky Alvarez to Inter for £12-14mil. Thank goodness Arsenal didn't spend that dough on him.

For real. I'm extremely happy we didn't pay that much. I'd rather focus on Mata.

Typical of juventus, they talk of "big" transfers and always end up missing out and settling for a cheaper option

Here's hoping Aguero happens

Fábio Coentrão completes a 30 million move from Benefica to Real Madrid. Probably the #1 left back target this summer, now out of the mix.

Dunno. He may be kept for depth. He can play in the midfield if I remember correctly. Plus he's a vice-captain. There may be some incentive to stay, but I'll let mrsmiller field this question should she see it.
