Just watched a short segment on NBC sports about the current 2 Transfer periods currently implemented in the system and whether or not there should be 2 periods as opposed to just one. What is the boards consensus on the subject? Obviously it doesn't seem fair to smaller clubs, but do yall think they should change it?

I like having two because it gives clubs an opportunity to add a key player for the push to fight relegation, get into a UCL spot or compete for the title.

Also, being a USMNT fan it likely saved Altidore, and many other players around the globe, from another wasted six months with a team who may not be interested in playing them.

I'm torn.

I think the winter window is great for the reasons you listed.

At the same time there is a 90-day window to produce a squad before the season...BUT there are injuries and such.

I can see this angle. Definitely not the worst thing.

There are positives to each proposal.

I've always been interested in the way soccer runs it's player transactions. It's so unique and different from anything that any American sports do.

Anytime I try to explain to people who arent familiar with the sport that teams in soccer have to "buy" a player from another team before actually signing them they are always so confused.

I still kind of miss the pre-transfer window world, it did allow more teams flexibility in dealing with injuries and there were less panic buys on deadline day

however, we also didnt have Jim White living the dream

That's how Japanese baseball players are brought over to the US.
