Winks came on and Spurs didn't even concede.

Progress.

Tanganga/Reguilon not getting forward

That was so different than last week it had to be a tactics change, I’m putting this down to a hangover match and just glad we got the 3 points.

Edited to say last year we drop points in this match so an improvement.

1st road game and Nuno’s return to his old club I was expecting a draw today so very happy we got the 3 points

Wolves probably should’ve scored twice if not more with all those chances. Ill feel a lot more comfortable with us playing “bend but don’t break” when we have Romero/Rodon/(hoping Tomiyasu) back there

Road wins are not easy to come by. I feel like we invited too much pressure, but the defensive structure has been so much better. Sanchez has looked really good the first 2 games. 2nd half was better by Spurs, but first half couldn’t have been much worse. 2 clean sheets and 6 pts against the defending champs and a top half club is more than I thought we would have at this point in the season. I really hope they are working on ways to keep the ball and control the game. We can’t play a full season on the counter.

These Traore rumors are getting pretty loud. I love the player, but I can’t see the fit. We already have a bunch of wingers with very little end product(Bergwijn, Moura, Gil-too soon to tell). He is such a devastating player to go against, but putting him next to Kane or out wide just makes us even more dependent on goals from Kane or Son. I still think this team is dying for a creative attacking midfielder in the Eriksen mold. Sabitzer would slide right into our squad IMO.

FWIW I really like the potential signing of Sarr and don’t hate loaning him back for a year. I realize he doesn’t help us land European football this year, but these are the kind of deals we should be exploring along with permanent signings. We will win some and lose some, see Jack Clarke, but I like that Paratichi is looking toward the future with the potential of Gil & Sarr.

I think Traore only happens if Kane is 100% staying because like you said he does nothing to solve our goal scoring problem on his own. However I think his crossing and penetration will be a godsend for Kane and Son (hearing Son would slide forward next to Kane in this scenario).

I got super excited when I heard those Damsgaard rumors weeks ago and I hope he's still on the radar if we get rid of Ndombele.

Going to be an exciting 8 days because we still have a ton of dead weight to drop and Kane situation all while still having 6 points after Week 2

The rumor I saw was it will either be Traoré or a new striker….not both. So I’d have to agree with this line of thinking as well. I doubt City come back this window with much more than they’ve already offered. Let’s keep Kane until at least January and see what City try and do then and where we stand in the table.

Traore

I did not realize that he is (only) 25 years old. Thought he was around 30 years old for some reason.

Romano says Sarr is ours. 18 yr old midfielder from Metz. Fee lowered to 15m in exchange for loan back to Metz for this season

Pape Sarr to Tottenham, agreement reached and here-we-go. Deal set to be completed for €15m fee, personal terms agreed on verbal basis waiting for contracts to be signed. #THFC Tottenham are now open to let Pape Sarr staying at Metz on loan until June 2022, confirmed.

Everyone is complaining that he can’t start right now, but this is smart business IMO.

We still need to improve the starting 11, but that shouldn’t come at the expense of long term potential. Sarr is a risk, but he has the profile of a guy that we couldn’t afford or would have big clubs chasing him 2 years from now.

This is exactly the kind of moves Spurs need to remain a big club without the benefit of oil money. It means our scouting department has to be better than most big clubs to find those players with potential. Then give them the best training and hope they realize their full potential at some point in the future.

I’m completely ok with this kind of forward thinking if the right people are in place.

Exactly correct. And let's be honest how much immediate impact would an 18 yr old from Ligue 1 really make in the PL? Minimal at best and a high risk of screwing up his development

Needs one more full season as a starter and then eased into Spurs next season

Good to hear. Now we can focus on adding some depth pieces which really sets us up nicely for getting to Europe this season barring injuries
