Mount is so much better as an 8. The only reason I can see Frank justifying Mount on the wing is purely tactical.. Probably told him to stay wide while in defensive phases, and tuck-in during attacking phases, but Fat Frank doesn't have that type of vision as a coach yet so who knows.

Chelsea looks flat as hell.

The best way I can answer this is that the defender was not reaching out away from his body to grab the player.
I mean, that's exactly what he did. He managed to close the gap quickly after grabbing the shoulder. shite, even his right arm stretches out to grab his shirt above the waist.

Just physically losing the battle isn't a foul.
It is when you bring the player down and don’t win position in that instance.

Grabbing the shoulder to slow the player down isn't playing the ball even if your intention is to eventually get to the ball.
It’s a CLEAR attempt to play the ball. Intention doesn’t matter in regards to if an instance is a foul or not, but it does in regards to making a triple punishment decision. If he just yanks him down because he’s beat then yes, penalty and red card. But if the defender attempts to gain position I don’t know how you can say that isn’t an attempt to play the ball.
In every instance this is asked the defender will have never actually played the ball, so you are genuinely gauging intent in a failed challenge.

I went back and refreshed my memory of the four criteria for a DOGSO to be called.
It can be argued the first three have been met. The fourth criteria, location and number of other defenders, including the goalkeeper, has not. Caballero was not stranded and had not committed to diving one direction or the other. That invalidates calling it a DOGSO foul.
Also important to note- a DOGSO decision is not an automatic red card. The referee has the discretion to issue yellow or red as he sees fit.

If Arsenal wins, do they take Wolves Europa slot?
