i remember being a senior in high school hearing about man united scouting timmy from the NY/NJ metrostars and thinking "LOL yea right they aren't signing an mls player"
then they signed him, he killed it in goal during the 2003 champions world tour and had a couple good years at OT before moving to Everton and becoming one of the best in the world.

My dad and I started following United right around the time Timmy became a Red Devil. It was awesome to see an American play for them back then.
I'll always have a soft spot for Everton because of him, too. I'll never forget watching the match when he scored against Bolton. One of those things that was incredible to watch live. (Side note: Miss you, Fox Soccer Plus.)

Love Timmay.
His letter to the Everton fans today was pure class. He timed his move back to MLS well, and we'll get to enjoy him for a few more years yet.

I can still watch all the games that aren't on TV and it doesn't freaking cost me $20 a month

I enjoyed being able to turn out either Fox Soccer and Fox Soccer Plus and know that some sort of soccer from somewhere was going to be on TV. It provided a lot of background noise and entertainment for me in college.
