even if you pick the shittiest division 1 team in the EPL, you're a bandwagoner

trying to be different by not cheering for the elite doesn't mean that you are avoiding some arbitrary reason to cheer for a team (just like those who choose the elite use that as tehir arbitrary reasonining...or they had access to that team as a child b/c it was the elite and on tv more...or their select soccer team was named that team's name so they gained interest)

it's all bandwagoning

We've been through this a lot lately. Every person here agrees with you sans one, DS. No need to rehash the argument IMO

I don't agree with that at all. Picking ManU/Real Madrid/Barcelona kind of teams is about as cool as a European picking up baseball and deciding to be a Yankee fan.

If you don't agree with that then great for you. There is plenty if room on this board for conflicting points of view.

I know a lot of you on here are bandwagoners of this nature and it makes you feel uncomfortable to be perceived this way so you're going to do anything you can do to try to attack me and include everyone else in your shallow and lazy choices for teams.

I've made my opinion clear on the matter and there is nothing you can say that will change my mind. For the love of god can we please move on?

there is nothing wrong with that. do you expect them to cheer for the royals or something?

Yeah well that's your opinion. I don't share it.

I was speaking more generally about the SCH's and Bho's of this board.

Now can we please move on?

How does one become a 49ers, LSU, and an Islanders fan?

Various reasons, none of which include just picking the team that's always winning.

Wynalda will say some head scratchers if you don't watch him, but I really don't get all the hate for him. Why would Pep want to go to a club where apart from going undefeated it will literally be impossible to achieve more than Jupp has this season. That almost assures some kind of a disappointment, if Jupp pulls off the treble this season Pep will be expected to do A LOT next year, especially bc the squad is not very old and none of the stars are leaving. It will certainly be the challenge he was looking for, not really your typical challenge, but surely he knows how demanding the board and fan base are.

Let the record reflect that I didn't bring this up AGAIN in this thread and I have tried to move on 3 or 4 times and y'all just won't let it go.

It's a 2 pronged objective/subjective test which looks at how much that team wins as well as the subjective state of mind of the person at the time they are picking, to the extent it can be ascertained.

is it OK for an American to now become a fan of Liverpool? they haven't won much lately

what about real? with barca's domination the past 5 years or so, their trophy case is small

man city, PSG, and soon to be AC Monaco don't have a storied history the past 10 years, either

AC Milan just sold off 2 of their best players and Juve is dominating again....are they safe now?

Right now I roll my eyes @ManU, Barca, Bayern, Dortmund (mostly because that's the shiek "I'm not front running but you really are" team) and Real.

ye gods

even the poor underdogs are now bandwagon teams

pretty soon you'll be adding swansea to the list i reckon

so basically an American cannot chear for a team who has a legitimate shot at winning a league title
