The USMNT has made it out of the group stage in every tournament since 2007

The last time we didn't make it out was in the Copa America in 2007.
Since then:
2009 Gold Cup
2009 Confederations Cup
2010 World Cup
2011 Gold Cup
2013 Gold Cup*
2014 World Cup*
2015 Gold Cup*
2016 Copa America*
* denotes Jurgen Klinsmann coached teams.

Sidenote: I'm not much of a Klinsmann fan, but apart from last year's Gold Cup failure, he's done enough to still have a job. I know a lot of the posters here likely disagree, and we tear him apart on his selections and tactics more often than not, but I personally think that us getting out of the group stage in the 2014 WC and in this year's Copa, he's continued to impress with what he gets the players to do, whether he's playing 6 guys in the starting lineup out of position or not.

Imagine what he could do if he had found a consistent backline/starting 11 and had them play together over the past two years instead of dicking around and wasting all of that time changing the lineup every game and playing people in asinine positions
Regardless, I give him credit for getting the results we needed to win the group. We have looked more exciting when attacking than I can remember in a long, long time. It's frustrating as hell that it took 6 years of Klinsmann to play a consistent starting 11. I will definitely complain less about this coach if he keeps getting us those W's.
