I kind of agree with Van Persie. Yeah, it was 19-0 in shots, and what seemed like 99% possession to 1%, but when every single player has to get behind the ball in a 1-1 game against the likes of Barcelona, you have no chance. With a full 11, there is at least a chance at extra time.

sometimes a lion's share of stats doesn't mean shite.

not that I expected us to win with 11 men necessarily, but it couldn't have hurt to have one of our top 3 players on the field.

1-1 game would have meant no extra time.

I posted the RvP interview pages ago and no one responded when I linked it

Although with all these posts, I'm fine with it

We got outplayed, no question. That doesn't change the fact we were going through at the time of the ref's decision. I see a lot of the English media are dismissing it because we were outplayed. These are the same people who whine and moan every time Arsenal get a break even though they outplay their opposition nearly every time they're on the pitch in the EPL.

I meant that I would still expect to give up a goal, just not a definite 2. Once RVP went off, stopping Barca was pointless. It wasn't like there was any chance of keeping the ball.
