He made a mistake. It took him a split second to do something he is going to regret for the rest of his life. And from his perspective he may have not thought he did anything wrong.
I remember getting a Ted card in high school where I thought I did a decent play. Bu when I watched the video of it I was definitely wrong.
Plays happen fast and you react.

I saw it right off and the ball does change directions a bit I mean its a moot point but it really made a difference in the game....

It was way too close to call on the offsides, and there's no replay. Also, it was a foul by the SA keeper, no matter what anyone says. Diving is part of the game of soccer, just as it has become in basketball. Now, if he had made an attempt for the ball with his hands, he probably would have only gotten a yellow.
