I'm not defending Bornstein at all. I'm simply pointing out that the NT has capped some absolutely terrible players, especially in the 90's.
I don't like Bornstein as a player, but LB is the hardest position to fill at the national level because of so few natural LB's actually exist and can play. Bornstein has earned 38 caps for us, and he's perfectly fine for low-level CONCACAF sides. It's just that our player pool is not that deep, which is why Bornstein is an option in the first place.

Err... I didn't base mine on the last game, but instead a few of their past games.
Bornstein was decent for a little bit but got progressively worse. His contract status kinda fricked him towards the end of his last few USMNT call ups.
Gooch had a lot of mixed games. He looked great and a lot of people saying "Gooch is back" back a few games. He was making attacking runs through the center of the defense.
Clark had a pretty good game, last call up and he had a 90th minute goal. If I'm not mistaking abt the time. He blew it in the World Cup. meh.
Beckerman, I'm biased. I don't get it. I don't think he brings anything to the table that Edu/Jones/Williams doesn't bring. He is an ok talent for CONCACAF games. I can see using him as a sub.
Edu, is probably the lesser of the evils. He has had a few good games and as of RIGHT NOW and I had to pick one of these people to put on my squad. I'd pick him. Granted his Jamaica series blew arse. Giant arse.
Findley, has disappeared from Nottingham Forrest. haha.

Bornstein actually wasn't a huge liability in the World Cup. The fact that he didn't have to face any quality wingers no doubt had something to do with that.
Poor player and I don't have any interest seeing him on the national team, but then again I'm not too thrilled about Castillo either.

No, but it was an important game for that particular team's psyche, having just lost Charlie Davies a couple of days before. We also lost Gooch that game, and were down to 10 men.

Davies' car accident was the previous night. Not to mention, that draw clinched our position as the top qualifier in CONCACAF; a largely meaningless title, but always golden to finish ahead of Mexico.
