That was extremely

What Pep did was lame and disrespectful as hell. But I would rather my manager play the pissed off card like Pep did than that bitch made scene Porter gave us. He should be flattered that Pep gave a frick enough to get mad for those challenges on his players and for losing to the All Stars to get as angry as he did. In a backwards kind of way, it shows an increased respect for the players and coaches of MLS. They were able to get under the skin of one of the best managers of all time and a typically mild mannered guy not known for showing his emotions like that, after a meaningless preseason loss no less. If Porter would have played it cool, it would have been perfect.

And the ice bucket thing wasn't any better. Corny as hell. It made me cringe. He even looked uncomfortable saying Pep's name on camera for something as silly as this little fundraiser stunt.

ETA Old thread I know, sorry. I've been away for a minute and just came across it.

I'm confused man..

1) When did I apologize? Surely you don't mean my last sentence. The thread was on page 4, which means no one had brought it up in a couple days, I said sorry because the conversation was clearly finished and I bumped a 3 day old thread. Not because I was begging for forgiveness. Just common courtesy.

2) What was brilliant? Caleb Porter was brilliant? No. Pep was in the wrong here no doubt, but at least he has the balls to tell that dipshit to frick off for one of his players breaking what was most likely an agreement to take it easy with challenges like that. Porters post-game bitchassness was an embarrassment.

Come on Randy. It's one thing to be an uber douche. It's a totally different thing to act like a fricking moron. Pep is one of the greats.

What is his resume? He started at one of the greatest teams of all time with a player who will arguably go down as the greatest of all-time and had some success no doubt. Even still, both of his champions league titles came on the back of some the most dubiously officiated matches in recent football history.

As soon as he got some competition in the form Jose and Real he tucked tail and ran as fast as he could.

He then went to Bayern (where he wouldn't have to worry about competition) and turned one of the most dynamic/successful sides in recent European soccer into a drab boring side even its own fans and board don't like to watch. And he got clowned in his first and only test there.

Now he is relegated to crying like a baby over losing an MLS All-Star game and getting thumped by Dortmund despite buying their best player after every season.

So is Jose one of the greats? You can't say that Pep isn't if you believe that Jose is.

Here's the thing. Alonso is not one of his players.

are you serious?

Jose's CV is MUCH more impressive than Pep's at this point.

That's not a slight against Pep though. Pep has won wherever he's gone, he's been an innovator in terms of tactics, and he's shown he deserves top tier jobs. It doesn't mean he's faultless. Mourinho has been a fantastic manager but he isn't faultless either. For me both belong in the top tier of managers.

I think they are both great. I'm not saying Jose isn't. He's coached 2 clubs and has won how many trophies?! And are you going to place all of that solely on the players? Jose hasn't been slouching in that department either.

Pep has only managed teams there were great prior to when he was there.

Jose has won the UCL with Porto and Inter, neither of which were at the level of Barca or Bayern when he took over.

Given some more time, Pep could catch up, but at this point, not very close imo.

He's a hell of a lot closer to being there than Pep.
