Grant Wahl ?@GrantWahl
Portland owner Merritt Paulson will hold press conference at 5:30 pm ET. @geoffreycarnold reports coach John Spencer not at training. Out?

Would be a damn shame because I like John Spencer, but the team is badly underperforming this season.

Some other sources on Twitter are also of the belief this will indeed be to announce that Spencer has been sacked in Portland.

Well they have a ton of quality attacking players, and almost no quality defenders. It could work.

hopefully the new coach can turn it around quickly. if we get some road wins against the right teams we can make the playoffs. We play Colorado, Chivas, Seattle and Vancouver twice more, those will be very important games.

there has been a lot of talking going around, especially after they lost to that amateur team at home and losing badly on the road.

Definitely a change is in order. That fan base isn't stupid at all, they will demand better even from a fairly new franchise.

Spencer isn't a bad coach and I think he'll catch on elsewhere in the league eventually.

Except the AA crew were probably better defenders than the ones Spencer was running out there.
