On the importance of elite talent

A parting thought from this past window - elite individual talent has really left an imprint on this US qualifying run. We’ve seen 6 points turned two by individual moments of brilliance from the two best players on the field (Alphonso Davies and Michail Antonio), and we’ve seen Dest and Weah generate similar goals out of thin air. Our other goal scorers are Pulisic, Mckennie, Aaronson, A. Robinson, Pepi and lletget. Other than Pepi (who I think will shortly join this group), our goals are coming almost exclusively from our champions league level players in Europe.

Lletget falls into the “almost exclusively” part of the post.
