Juve's Managing Director:

Bendtner isn’t the top player we were looking for but in a difficult transfer market like this one it was an opportunity that we took

I can't believe he asked for Del Piero's number.

Again, I don't see where people are pulling this 4.5m figure from. From /r/liverpoolfc:

quote:

'Dempsey has now made it quite clear that like Villa, he has no interest in joining Spurs; he wants to join Liverpool. The Reds have agreed a £7million pound fee, but will NOT agree to a £5million pound down payment, which is what Fulham are asking for.'

It can be argued that Spurs is on par with Pool at this point.

Sounds pretty close.

Fulham has always valued Clint more than LFC, this was never going to get done early...

Yes I agree. This is speculation but my guess is that LFC asked and were probably quoted £12-20 million. I get what they're trying to do but if they offered fulham 7-10 a month and a half ago everybody would be much better off. Any way you look at it that price is a bargain for Dempsey.

Clint is under contract with Fulham, and won't be paid if he continues to not play.

you can see the difference in transfer policy between Dalglish/Comoli and the new regime... Last year we'd have over paid for him...

edit: I think it also shows FSG are a but wiser, in regards to European football and trasfers... last summer was their first...

My understanding is reports of him "on strike" are wide of the mark and that in reality he's being made to train with the youth squads or by himself.

£7million is £7million. People are acting like the max Liverpool is willing to give Fulham for Clint is £4.5m, and it doesn't look like this is true.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. No one side deserves ALL the blame.

I thought I read otherwise.

I think both clubs just hate each other at this point and are trying to make it as difficult as possible for the other.

Of course, I've been very dissapointed with the way Dempsey has gone about trying to force this move. But, I think I'm more dissapointed in Fulham, and more specifically Jol, who have thrown the clubs best player in the modern era under the bus.

Meh. I place it equally. Yes Clint deserves some respect, but the club will go on without him. And the pieces are there to do well without him.

I would love to see Clint play out the year. That's my dream. I think eventually some of the bridges could be repaired. But knowing we'd have to let him go on a free after the season is something I'm not OK with.

Maybe Arsenal will try and sign him late.
