to Stevie. Sad to see him go, and even sadder to see the performance the team sent him out on. Just another shite match.

I was in NY over the weekend and made it to a supporters bar out there for the match. Great atmosphere, in spite of the loss. Nbc Sports even filmed us doing some Stevie chants afterwards that are supposed to be played for some special on him next week. Look for me in the red Gerrard shirt!

It appears many will get their wish in regards to Sterling.

Makes wayyy too much sense, therefore it won't happen. Doubt we could even entice him at this juncture

If he would actually come. Not happening with the current dumpster fire going on. I'm afraid we missed our shot with Lacazette.

I'm not worried about losing sterling as a player. We will be compensated for that. But we have to turn around the perception that you can't win trophies at Liverpool.

I think carragher said it best when he said that we had a chance for a trophy and sterling no showed against villa. You have to win them. They don't hand them out.

So here we are limping to the finish line and Sterling is bolting for God knows where. This off season will tell us a lot about the direction FSG plans to go with this club. I am grateful that they have brought us back from financial ruin and the expansion of Anfield is much needed and should provide another financial boost for the club. The big question is how invested in winning are they with LFC? A loss at Stoke and we could very well be back into the seven hole after last year's unexpected run. I have the feeling that this group's priority is in Boston and that LFC is a money making investment and not really a winning venture. Unfortunately in the world of big time football that's just not going to cut it going up against the likes of Chelsea, City and United. The good news is that I have few expectations from this bunch going into the summer so I guess anything will be a plus. I just can't believe that I feel like this at this time, last year feels like it was a very long time ago.

Guys. What the frick are we going to do. As an infant fan I can't help but feel like this is the Shula years. I hated the Shula years. We deserved better.

Some really tough reading out there right now. And the problem is there is some kernal of truth to it. It's easy to follow down that path. But we had top four form for 3 months and despite some massive mistakes with transfers and a lack of striker. Yes - disappointment should be the feeling - but we aren't that far off.

We do stand at a crossroads though - and the question remains of Rodgers is the guy that can bring in a couple of top players to see us down the right path. It makes no sense to try to build a team of we lose our top guys each year.

And I've been critical of Rodgers but only a small fraction of our starting XI would start at any of the top four. To be this close is enough of a good job that he clearly can do it at times.

Lyon apparently want 50m euros for lacazette - don't see us doing that.

FSG needs to step the frick up.

This moneyball shite does not work in soccer.

They pay big money for Hanley and Panda for the Red Sox but pussy foot around when it comes to LFC. Makes no sense.

I wish that rich china man would have bought us.

The money they spend does make sense - at least from what I understand. They spend big bucks for the red sox because the Red Sox make the revenue to support that. They spend the pounds that liverpool bring in. They may outlay some cash here and there that goes beyond it, but won't get into a cycle of overspending the revenue each year. That's their model - and it's fine. It just may not compete with oil money that's thrown into other teams with no revenue basis for it's spending.

Stark is right, the only issue I have is if we go down the smart spending road then we better be smart and not miss on anything. If we do we finish seventh.

Will we make any money off of Sterling leaving, or is he basically a free agent type situation at this point?

I was about to say maybe we could get Lacazette if we price gouge Man City into $35M or more (thought I saw his going rate is appx. $30M), but figured I'd ask first.

Sterling for Alexandre Lacazette?

I'm 100% down for that. We should have bought him last summer.

If people are asking FSG to spend money out of their own pockets... that ain't going to happen. We don't have a multi-billionaire owner who owns the club as a play toy. Of course they are treating it like a self-sustaining business.

They were always banking on FFP to level the playing field, so to speak and invest in youth and development. I'm sure Paltini's announcement on FFP didn't come as welcome news to them.

What I think can be done, is overhaul the current hierarchy we have in place and get in better people (DoF, Manager, etc.) to work within those constraints.

IMO, unless we just get unbelievably lucky with all are transfers and youth development, its going to be a journey of incremental success until we can compete with the Chelsea's/Man U/City's of the world on a year in and year out basis. I think that we caught lightning in a bottle last season and it went to all of our heads a bit too much (from the owners down to the supporters), in regards to where we really stand.

I will never hold it against FSG to see the most return on their investment possible. The issue for somebody like me is that I am a supporter, not an owner. My only concern is that we figure out a way in today's game to be in the mix for Domestic and European trophies. Our play last year was lightning in a bottle but with the Suarez cash we could have possibly sustained some form of that success. I totally agree that with the recent FFP news we need to re group and overhaul from top to bottom accordingly. I am squarely on the Klopp train but we must get a new plan up top as well. I am trying to take emotion out of the equation but I understand it rears it's ugly head after a 3-1 defeat at Anfield to Palace. I believe BR gets another year from FSG and unfortunately I don't think the transfer committee is going anywhere. I can only hope that this thing doesn't get any worse next year. Damn that is a hard read, sorry guys.

Sterling agent said he wouldn't sign for Liverpool for 900k pounds a week.

That's pretty harsh.
