Do you live in Palo Alto, according to your location below your avatar? If so, then I would pick San Jose. Dallas would be good, since you are an SMU fan.
Personally, I am just waiting for an Atlanta team. I think it will happen in a few years because there is no one in the southeast.

Overall, that was a very good read about each team.

New England Revolution is almost identical to the Buffalo Bills. They used to be great and they made it to the Championship game THREE straight years 05-07 and lost in the championship game THREE straight years. They also lost the game in 2002 as well. They haven't been good as of late but have had great talent in the past. Their best player of all time (Taylor Twellman's) career was cut short due to concussions. They have had notable players in the past like Alexi Lalas, Clint Dempsey, Eric Wynalda, Steve Ralston, Taylor Twellman, n a few others.
They have a very good young player in Diego.

Yep. Very promising future with NE Revs only being 16.

I posted abt him in the USA youth thread. He may have a US future although he was born in Uruguay. He was the Revs first academy player signed and has been in the States since he was like 3 or 4 years old.

Philadelphia Union is a new expansion team as well. Not a lot of MLS history to say the least. However, they have been making good moves and have a good front office. They have a lot of players from different countries on their roster and they seem to be a constant top of the mid table team. They weren't very good last year in their first year but they were very young. Hard to get a feel of the team. They just signed Freddy Adu to a contract, hve a great French player in Le Toux, a great Congo/American player in Danny Mwanga (A Board favorite) and they have a good player in Justin Mapp.
Philly plays a very odd style, or at least has since Ruiz left. We have strikers, but they don't play as strikers. It's kind of like throwing six midfielders on, and allowing 1-3 of them to play up front depending on how the match is going. The midfielders going up front also rotate, so you'll have someone like Worthless Serb or Daniels switching from midfield to attack. This is why Le Toux's productivity has fallen. And it's why OLASDM keeps getting subbed on or off for midfield players.

Ruiz is a dick but damn he is good in the MLS.

And now he's off Philly because everyone hated him, fans, coaches, and players.

Yea, his whole exit was kinda bizarre. Oh well, Freddy should do good.

Thank you very much! Very helpful. I used to follow dc united and the rapids when I was younger but got away from the MLS. I'm gonna try to watch a Rapids game soon. I also watched FC Dallas against the Mexican team the other night in the CONCACAF tourney and liked what I saw.

Portland
There's your answer.
Philadelphia is probably the second best option.

Every new MLS fan = a Portland Timber fan. So get prepared for that answer. A LOT. They are the biggest fad in the MLS. Also, the Timbers first year in the MLS. (Along with Vancouver, Rivals with the Sounders and Whitecaps. Cascadia Cup). They have a very compact stadium and it's one of the loudest in the MLS. The front office seems to make a lot of moves for players and they will probably be pretty decent for awhile.
I was a timber fan before MLS. I watched that stadium be renovated every day. But you're spot on with your assessment. They're a fad that is going to stick around for a while, though.

San Jose Earthquakes ... They've always tapped into the So Cal soccer players so they have a good chance of continuously getting better and being a good mid table to top team.
Not really. Not even that close...

San Jose is in Nor Cal anyways.
San Jose is right next to San Francisco.

Hey UA, great read man. Awesome stuff
Now that I've complimented you, I have a few bits to add:
I would place California ahead of Texas as far as soccer development goes. New Jersey is up there too (Altidore, Bedoya, Howard, Guido Judas).
I would argue that Bryan Ruiz is CR's best player. He always gives the US fits during WC qualifying.
They also have, arguably, the best goal keeper in the league.
You forgot to mention that they suck, lol.
Despite the ownership they still produced two US national teamers in Bornstein and Sacha. I don't think this really helps them, thought, especially considering how Bornstein has played for the national team.

Texas is probably the best state that develops soccer than any other state due to the hispanic population.
