It's not that hard - just reduce regular season fixtures by 2 and use that same period for the playoff rounds.

um its actually not that easy or fair to cut out 2 fixtures unless you reduce the size of the league.

playoffs in the league would make any other cup competition useless.

The best form of playoffs is when used for promotion in England and promotion/relegation in some of the leagues on the continent.

not a season pass holder so he probably hasn't thought that through. Timbers supporters and pass holders like myself would go bonkers if we didnt have a home match at the Prov for months.

You could play in Portland during November and February before a winter break, shite you could play there during those two months.

You just couldn’t help yourself and had to reply to Sir Winston, huh?

Need this badly in Premier League

No it doesn't. The home-away round-robin tournament is the best way of determining a champion over the course of a season. Cup competitions serve as the elimination tournaments. There is absolutely no need to add an elimination phase to the league. It doesn't add anything to the league at all.

Eh, personally I prefer having the bulk of the mls season during the spring/summer. It's guaranteed soccer year round gives someone like myself who hates baseball something to watch.

Now lets get on the same football calendar as the rest the world and throw in a winter break.

I think this is still a really bad idea.

The summer tournaments are pretty much every year

Tournaments that sometimes take players out of their season

That just waters the league down more having quality players leaving for summer tournaments

Most tournaments only last a month, and the biggest ones are only every couple of years, with the Euros especially having little to no effect on MLS players. Plus those games happen while most people stateside are at work.

If MLS ever becomes a top league it will have a ton of players in the euros

Despite being on while people work I bet you it gets better raitings than MLS

And we aren't nearly there yet. Let's worry about that when it comes over the horizon.
