MLS to USMNT hopefuls discussion

What do you guys think of Jack McInerney?
Scored a beautiful backheel against the Galaxy on the fourth.
He's got three goals in three games since new Philly skipper John Hackworth brought him out of Nowak's doghouse.
He's only 19 and has extensive experience with the US youth national team setup.

meh. He is still young. Who knows. Nice to see a southern guy, tho.

He's been playing well lately. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing him invited to a camp in the near future.
I have no idea what Nowak was thinking. The offense was horrible and he was wasting players like McInenery by letting them sit.

I remember playing against him in club like 4 years back, he was sick then. Glad to see he's out in Philly now

Nowak was a buffoon. He either sat or traded away his best talent. That's why an interim coach is having tons more success than he ever did.
First (and only, if I recall) Alabama native in MLS. Hopefully he'll be scoring goals for us in like World Cup 2020.

That Steven Beitashour kid in San Jose is doing work, We should call up every American for the quakes. They have three unathletic white guys scoring at record pace up there in Wondo, Leinhart, and Gordon. We should take a good look at everyone feeding them.

DC United's Chris Pontius looks like Brek Shea did about this time last year. Pontius is 25. He's in his fourth MLS season, he's scored 9 in 15 so far this year, and 22 in 72 with every season so far ending in injury. His 25 games last year was the most in his career. He's scoring .84 goals per 90 minutes and scoring a goal 32.1% of the time he shoots it, by far the best percentage of the players in the top 10. (Wondo at 23.3%, Henry at 19.8%) He plays mostly left mid and forward for DCU.

He's been a regular with the youth national teams as you mentioned but I've always viewed him as somebody with a pretty low ceiling. I would love to see him develop into a prolific MLS striker.

Talk about a guy who fell off the USMNT radar. He showed a lot of promise when he was younger, he has a great left foot. His brother actually teaches at LSU.

Houston probably has more USMNT prospects than any other team. They all have relatively low cielings, but Brad Davis, Tally Hall, Will Bruin, and Geoff Cameron could all mean something to the national team.

He's a goal scorer, for sure. But he's an out and out striker that lacks great size or great pace. That's not a good combination for the international level.
I feel he'll be a Wondolowski type.
He's looked great for Philly the past few weeks, though. You have to wonder WTF Nowak was doing over there.
ETA: Maybe Chris Rolfe is a better comparison.

What about Luis Gil?
I like McLnerney, nice player. He's talented enough to go abroad at some point, and that alone puts you in the NT discussion.

I love Luis Gil's potential. He could bring everything to the table that Jose Torres does, with more athleticism and a killer instinct if he pans out.
Gil has a goal and two assists in 17 matches, 11 of them starts. He's gotten alot of playing time due to injuries the past two seasons. If he can lock down a starting spot in Salt Lake (Tough to do with Javier Morales ahead of him) but if he can lock down a spot on one of the wings he might make the USMNT this cycle, impressive since he's just 18.

I like Sapong and Bunbury. Neither are in very good form at all right now. They're both good, young prospects, though.

KC is not very good right now. The whole team hit a rough patch of form at the same time. I think another candidate from that team will be Zusi.
