My best guess would be: Cincinnati, St. Louis, Sacramento, Raleigh, Charlotte and anyone's guess for #6.

No way that NC has two teams. From a fan standpoint, it should be Raleigh. But the money is in Charlotte. Bruton Smith is talking about MLS in CLT.

East:
Cincy
Charlotte
St. Louis

West
Sacramento
San Antonio
None from the List - Phoenix/Tempe/Scottsdale

I could also see St. Louis in the West and Tampa.

Maybe not, but Arizona has the demographics to support soccer. Trends young in large cities. Large Hispanic Population.

Strange not to have one there.

What is a realistic number of MLS teams is the max for the league. And by max I mean having a 40ish game schedule with a balanced formula?

The league should stop at 24. 28 or 30 teams is way too many esp for a league with depth and quality problems.

But if it's going all out like this might as well go to 40 and create 2 division but that's not going to happen. No one is paying $200 million franchise fee to be a 2nd division team.
