What were they thinking in scheduling a game one night in Peru and then have those same players play the next night in LA???

I did find it pretty strange that they would have landed I'm LA only 3 hours prior to kick off. Can't say I really blame them. Hopefully they don't cancel the Chicago game though.

I know this sounds like the organizers are the ones to be blamed, but I can easily see somebody throwing Messi under the bus for basically trying to steal money for a bogus event after he was just charged with tax fraud.

Both sides probably deserve a good bit of blame, but I would be amazed if Messi, and not "his people," actively participated in the decision making process or negotiation.
