They retweeted a WSJ story about it, but it's behind a paywall. Can't read any more than this:

Put them where they shine the most, with the Premier League. Cashing in on their popular World Cup coverage.

It would be kind of pointless to keep them with ESPN. Correct me if I'm wrong, but ESPN only has some USMNT and some MLS matches, correct?

They haven't done much MLS coverage on the pod (they just recorded a live one in Portland), but I think that'll all change with this move and the amount of USMNTers in the league.

I liked the chemistry they had developed with the ESPN guys.

But ESPN doesn't have the rights to any major USMNT tournaments anymore. I don't know how qualifiers will be for the next World Cup, but...that's a while away.
Besides, their EPL coverage/analysis is what got them started…and it's what I personally care for more than their USMNT cheerleading.

What? They were never on TV that often to begin with outside of the World Cup.
Also, NBC's soccer website is terrible compared to ESPNFC. Going to suck see Rog's columns get anchored down by that site.

Neither does NBC if I'm not mistaken. ESPN will have all USMNT WCQ's.

Their EPL analysis is great, but make no mistake, the reason they are big is because they are 2 outgoing Brits who are huge US homers.

Year-Round EPL and MLS Coverage vs. Sporadic USMNT Coverage in a Few Years
They'll still talk about the USMNT, especially with the MLS and EPL coverage.

Post-World Cup, yes. But they were already big for soccer fans before this World Cup cycle.

Not for EPL fans, which is going to be the major audience for the next two years or so and the one NBC wants to get. They can combine that audience with new EPL fans from the World Cup bump.

ESPN FC is a fairly awful site IMO. especially their insider garbage. Pro Soccer Talk sucks, but not really bummed about that shift. hope they get lots of weekly exposure with NBC.
