He was rumored to be on the list. They decided early on in the process that they wanted somebody with premier league (relegation?) experience. I don't think he was ever actually considered by Aston Villa though.
I actually wouldn't be against it if we can't get Martinez, Rodgers or Lambert. Would definitely be better than Curbs or Steve Bruce. Bob is a very smart guy but I think he would need a great #2 with plenty of experience in England.

Why would Lambo go to an unstable club?

Look at our payroll then look at norwich's. He would have an opportunity to rebuild the squad now that most of the big earners are off the books. We also have a good group of kids who've come through our academy and should have a bit of money to spend.
Not saying he would leave Norwich. He might think if they avoid the second year slump he will get better offers from bigger clubs. I have a feeling if we do offer him the job he will take it. McLeish is one of the highest paid managers in the league believe it or not, I'm sure we'd offer Lambert a nice raise as well.

Also when talking about a premier league manager, you would say sacked. When talking about an NFL coach, you would say fired/let go/released.
