There's not a lack of space. Space can be created pretty easily and City has done it well already in the few games I've watched them play.

In England there is a lack of space in the midfield most the time. Due to the rigged structure and tactics. Its not expansive, free flowing and expansive like in Germany. The managers will adapt to Pep's tactics.

It's not as easy as "adapt to Pep's strategies"

The tactics change 3 or 4 times per game. Pep will have a center mid drop in between center backs to get space if he needs. Space doesn't always have to equal 10 seconds free in the middle of the field. You're way overestimating the difficulty of operating in that environment.

Ingolstadt just took the lead.

The managers in the prem are not dumb. Trying to run an gun with a Pep side won't work just look at SAF in those two finals. Now look at two of the sides that knocked out Bayern. Great defensively, physical and great at shutting down mids in the center of the park while limiting their time on the ball

No shite but thats what he was used to in Germany do to the systems and tactics in place.

As someone who played a Center mid nahhhh.

I can't wait to see what Pep throws out once other managers make the proper adjustments. Jose was able too in the second half last Saturday.

Does Kimmich regularly play at CB?

I also played center mid. Neither you or I come close to the skill of Gundogan. You're placing way too much emphasis on conventional space. It can be created multiple times in different ways.

Jose's tactics worked for 5 minutes, Man U got their chance on goal and didn't score. Pep countered and City went back to dominating fairly easily.

He did very often last year when every CB got hurt. Played a lot of RB for the national team and his normal position is CM. Really versatile guy.

Pouring Ayinger fest later. Feeling super German today despite my solitary German great grandmother. Still counts.

Yes it can be created by runs, filling others space and playing off each other.

City didn't dominate the 2nd half of that match. United were over running them until Pep brought on Fernando and basically decided to sit back and counter.

Don't think so but he was supposed to be the star of their youth set up at the time. Its not like they are a small club to just let RB snatch him up.

Man U set up the entire second half to overload the right side and get Rashford 1v1 on the left. It worked once. Aside from that, they didn't threaten very much at all. City was very much in control for almost the entirety of that match.

Bayern played several matches with Alaba and Kimmich at center back last year. It was wild.

nah bro, from my seats up in the sky i could see it all from a tactical level.

The first 15 mins of that half was all United. Pep made the proper sub basically looking at 5 in the back at times. To say United didn't threaten much in the 2nd half in comical. Zlatan had more than a few chances he usually puts away.

I wouldn't say United were 'running over' City at any moment in the 2nd half or match for that matter. However, I do think that for much of the second half it was very wide open.
