it's in reference to an interview he did a few years back. The journalist asked EJ if he enjoyed video games. EJ's response was something along the lines of, "I don't play games, I'm a grown arse man."
Grown arse Man has been his nickname throughout the US soccer community, it's relevant beyond this board.

I'm starting to really enjoy soccer. What will it take on the international stage for Americans (fans) to fully embrace the game like the rest of the world. Back to back deep runs ie.. Quarters/semis or confed cup win or will it second or third tier till we win the World Cup ?

Well we made the finals of the Confed Cup by beating Spain in the semis in 2009, it was a mere blip on the radar for a day and I'm not sure much more would have been made of it had we held on against Brazil in the finals.
I think it will take at least a WC final appearance to really ignite something.
The enthusiasm and respect is definitely growing though and this 9 game win streak is a good way to get the USMNT in the news.
