I'm curious if anyone has kids in any of the Houston area clubs? What their thoughts of the clubs, trainers, facilities, etc are?
I have two kids in the Dynamo / Dash youth system.

I coached with the Houston Dynamo USSDA. We had the best of everything in S. Texas. That should be your goal.

Texans and Rush are solid, but they're not the Dynamo no matter how much they think they are.

TFC is solid - based on Ajax training method and the Dynamo have recently connected with them in regards to their under 10 programs. Highly technical / heavy footwork.

We have ours in the Dynamo-Dash youth league. Basically four levels of play (rec play with dad coaches, youth academy: Rec play with professional coaches, and competitive where they travel to other play other leagues, and then the Deveolpment Academy). We are pleased so far, but with the rec you are limited with the motivation of the coach and the players to stay together. Most better players move in to youth academy where the play is better and players (Parents) are more dedicated. Definite focus on skills (footwork, field concepts, and strategy) that is missing in a lot of places, but can get pricey.

Soapbox: my biggest problem with Texas sports is the immense pressure to have the kids the best. Personal coaches for soccer, football, baseball, etc starting at 1st and 2nd grade on top of the league practices gets a little much. You also have to join leagues that often overlap in seasons so it is difficult to let your child play multiple sports and see what they like without the pressure of being the best at any one of them.

Rush & Space City rebranded as Dynamo / Dash Youth, and are an affiliate to the pro teams.

Both of mine play competitive, but not DA.

I agree that with my son at least he played football & baseball in his younger years, and then moved to soccer at the old age of ten... He has used his summers as "catch-up" time with camps and personal coaching.

I wish we had some form of DA where I live.

My son's first real exposure to critical judgement will be ODP this upcoming year at U13. Be interesting to see what everyone else's level is like.

Not much interaction with them. Eclipse & Express merged last year to form Rise. They dropped out of US Clubs and joined STSYA DDL

They have a pilot DA (U12/13) program, but after U13 there's no DA options. Nice facilities, but weaker competitive teams.
