Actually Mix has said on multiple occasions that he feels equally Norwegian and American, and that his decision was purely based on who approached him first for a senior call up.

From 2009 onward, he played strictly for the US system.

In fact, his first call up was in 2010... with Bob.

Also, I don't think Bob would have brought Yedlin to Brazil. But then again he probably would have brought Donovan.

Maybe, maybe not... He probably brings in a guy like Parkhurst probably due to experience (which would've been the wrong choice, obviously). However, Bob did ride with Jozy from the very beginning and started him in every game in South Africa despite being 19 years old... That may have been more because our striker pool was shite, but who knows.

Despite the win streak, World Cup success, Qualification, win in Azteca, Italy, etc...the biggest thing, for me, is the way he's changed our style of play. We move the ball now, and we move it quickly. The US has never been this adept at keeping possession and taking the game to their opponents.

That’s not a subjective opinion, it’s a fact.

We're not that much better at keeping possession.

Disagree. We still get overrun against better sides, but we attempt to hold the ball.

Attempting to do something and actually doing something are two different things though, right?

Well, he does it against equal to slightly more talented sides; Mexico, for example. I'm not sure it's his fault our guys can't hold onto the ball against Germany and Belgium. But still, they try to take the game to their opponents. Can you argue that bunkering down, Bob and Bruce to a lesser extent, would be a better course of action against those teams, of course, some on this board would definitely agree, Sheep.

Put on a tape of this team under Bob, and a tape of this team under Jurgen, two completely different sides with two completely different mentalities.

And this latest world cup group was exponentially more difficult than the 2002 world cup group.

Jurgen is not exempt from criticism. I just find most of the ones posted on this board laughable. The reality is most of those criticisms stem from his decision to leave Landon home.

Only one man's opinion.

All of this is true. But that one decision was a pretty boneheaded one, you have to admit. It's not Jurgen's fault Jozy got hurt, but you can't go into a World Cup with so few legitimate goal scorers on the squad. Especially when you leave your best option, who is still in his prime, at home.

Hard to say 32 is in your prime, but I agree nonetheless. Landon would have been perfect for a ten role in a 4-2-3-1, or as one of the strikers in the diamond 4-4-2.

This is where many coaches fail. Trying to force their system onto a player instead of tailoring a system to their players' strengths.

- Portugal was ranked fourth in the world, and 2002 was supposed to be their golden generation's prime.

- Host nation South Korea, who benefited greatly from FIFA-esque refereeing decisions throughout the tournament

- Poland, ranked ninth in the world. A bit deceptive as their ranking had been bumped by winning a pretty weak qualifying group (Wales, Norway, Ukraine) - but still a European group winner.

Germany was a great team in 2014 (obviously) but both Ghana and Portugal looked completely out of sorts in every match - and if I recall correctly, we hung on for dear life in both matches.

We dominated that Portugal game. Should have had 3 points.

While Bruce and Bob were much more bunker happy than Jurgen, even the latter two controlled the possession in matches against CONCACAF teams. The style of play has changed but not as much as you are trying to lead on. Bottom line, the results aren't head and shoulders above what they were in the past and that can easily be attributed to a deeper talent pool, not a revolution in tactics.

We definitely should've won and were the better team, but saying we dominated is a stretch.

We were out-posessed(48-52), had far less deliveries into the penalty area (2-8), had less shots (15-20) and only one more shot on target(10-9).

We dominated stretches of the Portugal game. The first 15-20 minutes were really bad.
