It's possible that steering them to foreign clubs hurts US soccer long term, but it's better for those individuals if they get into better academies.
Juan Agudelo disagrees with this assessment.

Fair point. It's not universal. There will always be young players who show out at a youth level and let their ambition/opportunities outpace their potential.

If I hadn't watched all of you melt over him not including Landon this summer and then bitch about every little thing since, I would be amazed to see y'all complaining about him trying to get our best prospects into the best academies and leagues in the world. I bolded that because it seems insane that he would be criticized by USMNT fans for that.

Link on which prospects the MLS execs are pissed about and which academies their being pushed toward?
Which is why I said upthread:

I'd very much be curious to know if he (and his staff) are pushing them to "Europe" or to specific clubs. If it's specific clubs, it would be interesting to see how Jurgen is connected to those clubs.
Your blind defense of all things Jurgen is at least as (ir)rational as my constant criticism.
Of course, my criticism appears to be echoed by many ACTUAL soccer people, while the hero worship seems to be primarily limited to internet soccer nerds.

don't most clubs get to sign their youth prospects? why can't we do that here?

I just defend him from y'alls speculative defamation. I criticize him for what the team does on the field. I have from day one. To me the mark of somebody who is still rational is that they try to see both sides of a situation. You are a complete hater when it comes to Jurgen and always have been.

I assume it's the best prospects since he said it's situational based on a player's ability. Then again, I know that trusting his word is anathema to you.

Oh they are accusing Jurgen of steering people to certain clubs for his own financial gain?
I don't think the team is doing all that great under Jurgen right now,and I don't have a lot of confidence going forward about the results we can get. I just can't get behind what I see as criticism he hasn't earned. To hear you tell it, he is a total piece of scum. I haven't seen evidence of that, so I argue against it. Whatever, I'm one unwanted voice in this sea of hatred for him, so I don't post often. I guess it should be less so that the echo chamber is undisturbed.
