Yugoslavia was basically just Serbia and Montenegro. Croatia (which was the great team), Bosnia, Slovenia, and Macedonia were all independent by then. It was a decently tough group, but nothing crazy.
As for 1994, we there were 6 teams in each pot. We got the number 3 team in Group 2, the number 3 team in Group 3, and the number 3 team in Group 4. Sure it wasn't the 2002 Belgium, Russia, Tunisia group that Japan got, but it was a very reasonable draw.
