Jamaica doesn't even have a single medal in the Winter Olympics.

PS - 4th place Is the "intercontinental playoff" a one match or home/home series?
Also, is round 4 the last round of qualifying? (I read the qualifying rules but still cant quite get it)
Thanks

Not that I would do it either, but I don't see it listed on first row
It should be on there closer to game time.

Yes this is it. the hexagonal is 6 teams, home and away against each team. Top 3 go, 4th to the playoff.

So a WIN we're in great shape. A loss we still can back arse-in via playoff?

A popular rule is...tie on the road. win at home. you're in the world cup.
We need points. Regardless. Jamaica beat us the last game with 2 FK goals. First time they've ever beat us. Granted our midfielders were Beckerman, Edu, Jones. But, we played awful. Jamaica is going to come out fighting. They can't afford to drop points. If they do. They are almost done for.

Perhaps more useful at this point are the "win at home, tie on the road" standings, given that the U.S. has only played one home game, while this will be Jamaica's third home game in the Hex. If you win at home and tie on the road, you'll qualify for the World Cup. Here's how each team is faring by that standard:
Costa Rica (-1)
United States (-1)
Panama (-2)
Mexico (-2)
Honduras (-3)
Jamaica (-6)

Important to note for those who don't follow qualifying very closely, but the loss at Jamaica was in the previous round. We were never in any real danger of not advancing.
The stakes are much different this time around.

Ah cool, thanks for clarifying that. Each round eliminates more teams?

To be fair we had to not lose our last game to advance so each game does hold a lot of merit.

Has it been established that the game is actually at 8:30 CT and not 7:30 CT like the Subject line says?
Posted on 6/7/13 at 2:20 pm to chillygentilly
Right, the game kicks off at 8:30 p.m. Central Time.

Yeah I was clarifying why I thought it was for 8:30.
I'm not retarded, I know what a time zone is.

Might want to shake that Magic 8 Ball up and get another answer. Had we lost to Guatemala in the final game, we would have been eliminated on goal differential.
Had we not been rescued by Alan fricking Gordon in the 90th minute against A&B, we could have been eliminated with a draw in the Guatemala game.
Make no mistake, our performance in the first stage of qualifying was poor. I'll temper that by saying we were denied a penalty at the end of the Guatemala game and the pitch was terrible at A&B, but our play left a lot more to chance than what should have been, and being eliminated in the last round was not that far away.
I believe the team has learned that lesson, and will be focused on the result tonight. At least, that's what I hope.
