their 4-2-2-2 the other night
Anway, I think it was an anomaly that corresponded to players not knowing each other and drifting.

You know, let´s all have a beer, and then get vertical in a diagonal kind of way.
Anyway, it looks like Ancelotti prefers the Christmas tree, which means a real 9 must come to Madrid, or otherwise playing some variant of a 3 back or base, which IMO, could be cool (it doesn´t make Khedira redundant).

Yeah it will undoubtedly look better with time. I just want to know how they fit everyone in?
Where does Modric play? Özil? Khedira?
------ Alonso ----------- Modric ------
Isco -------------------------------- Özil
----- Bale ---------------------- Ronaldo
That's a hell of an attacking lineup but there's not a single good tackling midfielder there.

Khedira
I think we´ll see the Christmas tree and the 4-3-3, the ´Magic Box´will be for special occasions.
No, you´re not going to see tacklers on this year´s edition.
It looks like the ole ´score one more than the others´type of strategy.
ETA The three back experimentation is interesting, and viable. This would keep a Khedira relevant.

That will be at least fun to watch but won't win a Champions League. How would the Christmas tree even work if Bale came over? Would Özil be one of the three center mids? Khedira would have to be on the field if that's the case

Off the cuff Christmas tree.
¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨The Biter¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨
Cristianito¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨Bale
Isco¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨Modric¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨Özil
Marcelo¨¨¨¨¨Ramos¨¨¨¨¨Varane¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨Carvajal
Modric is by no means a given, and could be Xabi, Illaramendi or Khedira.
As could Bale or Cristianito be subbed for by Isco or Özil.
Tantalizing, and über challenging.
ETA I don´t see Suárez in this role, I see a Lewandowski, to be honest.
If, Suárez comes, I don´t see the Christmas tree, but probably the 4-3-3.
Ancelotti is known to love both, and with the right personnel, I think the Christmas tree is more effective, and to be honest, the Brasilian Magic Box, which is perfectly viable once Bale arrives, is a great, great option.

They'd score 5 goals a game and give up 4.

Also, I liked Carvajal a lot in the Bundesliga last year. I think he'll be a massive upgrade from Arbeloa.

Most anything is
The Russian kid discovered and nurtured by Sporting de Gijón, and incorporated into Real Madrid, as if he´d been there all along, will suprise MANY this year. He is good. Damned good.
Why aren´t all the weenies who talk about width and pace chiming in? Or at least supporting the ref swarming and bitching of the LA Galaxy?
Am I missing something? Did someone forget to send me the memo that it´s OK if some do it, but not others?
Could this be what I called weeks ago, hypocrisy?

Oh yeah, I'd never seen that Cheryshev kid play before that friendly. I looked him up and saw that he was mostly a winger but RM had him playing left back. I don't know if he'll get any time unless they sell Coentrao.

quote:He´s looked good, TBH. We´ll see how all shakes out. I think he and DiMaría are going to pay for Bale.
Coentrao
Khedira may still go.
Good God, it´s so nice to see the translator gone.

It was a bit awkward
That was strangely reminiscent of United's 4-6-0, except mostly impotent
I've seen it on three different occasions in preseason, and it has looked different every time. The other night was probably secondary to the Lyon game in weirdness. In possession, Casemiro (CM) was dropping in b/w Pepe and Nacho. Cheryshev and Carvajal were providing width. Modric (LM) and di Maria (wtf) were pinching into the center of midfield to form a midfield triumvirate with Khedira. Probably wouldn't have been that weird if it wasn't di Maria playing CM in attack, and Isco and Ronaldo up front certainly formed a better partnership than Ronaldo and Kaka.

Bale coming, Suárez to finish it out. That´s what it looks like to me.
Should be a good season.

Permissive officiating and purported bad weather aside, you´re going to sit there and tell me that a full season in a league with no CL quarterfinalists, is going to impede a Cristianito at his prime with Real Madrid, from scoring 50 plus goals in a season?
I would hope there is some modicum of professional self respect, and besides Arsenal and Swansea, other premiere sides wouldn´t park the bus, like the translator´s chelski would invariably do.
Smoke on dude, smoke on. You´re flippin´out.
Messi, would bang in the same or more, even with a Tito year.
You´re flippin´ out.

The evidence is there. He had the best season, by some distance, by anyone in the Prem over the last 7 years and he fell 8 short of 50. The year after he barely reached getting half way to 50.
Yea man, the EPL teams are doing it all wrong. What morons to actually defend and take away the other teams most dangerous threats. Oh, Messi is still 0-fer against Chelsea, lol.
Amazing how the bus parker broke the La Liga points record and led his team to 121 goals scored.
