. Sterling is the surprise? How about Welbeck in the starting lineup?
ITV was saying that the battle to start is between Lallana and Sterling (with Sterling edging it), not Wellbeck and Sterling.

I'm practically by myself now that the CR/Uruguay people have left. Welsh being pissed at English inevitability?
ETA: Going to post the lineups?
ETA2: Terrible thread starter
ENGLAND: Hart; Johnson, Jagielka, Cahill, Baines; Gerrard, Henderson, Wellbeck, Rooney, Sterling; Sturridge
ITALY: Sirigu; Chiellini, Darmian, Barzagli, Paletta; De Rossi, Pirlo, Candreva, Verratti, Marchisio; Swagotelli

Rooney on the left with Sterling in the middle? Wut?

Sterling in the middle (if that's what happens) is all about marking Pirlo.
Rooney was completely worthless in the Italy game in the Euro's. Just wouldn't/couldn't mark Pirlo at all.

I wondered if Roy would be brave enough to leave Rooney out for this game precisely because of that.
Apparently this is the solution.

Italy with a decimated, inexperienced and re-arranged back four and GK.
This match won't end 0-0

What happened to Italy's back four? I did not expect half of those guys to start.
