Awesome
Not sure why that matters that you were born in Mexico City in 1993

Real talk... LSU basketball traditionally stands in a line with there arms around each others shoulders for the anthem, are they all being anti-American too?

Also your commander in chief was spotted cracking jokes, pointing at people and pretend conducting during the Super Bowl, so what about him?

Inconsequential. 1st Amendment.

The U.S. Soccer Federation is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit, *not* the government.

The 1st Amendment doesn't guarantee any person the "right" to speak as a representative of a private, non-government entity. It just doesn't.

If a person works for Microsoft, Microsoft has a perfect right to fire an employee/contractor that is a loud and public proponent of Apple. There are no 1st Amendment protections violated there.

Also, if your viewpoint were accurate, then I could bring my handgun to work (or *anywhere* for that matter) anytime I wanted whether or not my employer wants me to or not because, gosh, 2nd Amendment!

They are making a decision to make their stand. The 1st Amendment absolutely guaranteed EVERYONE to speak. The consequences of their decisions are what the 1st Amendment doesn’t cover. You literally couldn’t make a worse argument on this here.

Non-sequitur.

The 2nd Amendment absolutely gives us that right. We, as a citizenry, have been lazy in holding our representatives accountable.

Completely separate issue. Are you sure you want to have this argument, bud? I like you as a poster, but the fake outrage is bullshite.

I like you as well, but its just a fact that 1st Amendment "protections" do not apply to private and non-governmental entities. They just don't.

If you work for a Catholic diocese and have a mid-life conversion to atheism and decide to be a notable and publicly outspoken convert, the 1st Amendment does *not* protect you from being fired by the diocese for your public speech.

It does, indeed, protect your right to SAY WHAT YOU WANT, of course. But it does *not* protect you from every possible consequence of your usage of that right. Period.

I mean, you have the perfect RIGHT to walk into your bosses office and call him a cock-sucker, but you ARE very, very likely going to be fired after you do it.

This is my entire argument. She has the right to do it. The org has the right to swap up and say “if you do this you’re fired”. Ball is in her court.

She is in the organization, but that doesn’t limit her right outlined in the 1st A. This discussion is about individuals carrying out that right, not whether or not the USSF supports her commentary.

In this case, she is not at threat of being fired. They told her not to kneel, now she doesn’t cover her heart because she values her job/role in the WNT.

The only situation that the angle you are coming from is right is in the case of the military (possibly police too, but I don’t know about that realm). We can’t protest on partisan political issues, and generally have to seek permission and counsel to be allowed to participate in ANY protest.

Then we 100% agree.

Most of the "but she has a 1st Amendment right!" proclaimers, however, believe that not only does she have the right, but she is due automatic and full protection from any consequence or responsibility from her use of that right. And that's what I thought you were saying. Glad to hear I was incorrect.
