FIFA has decided to make some changes...

They will no longer allow instant replay on the Big Screens within the stadium.

I'm being serious.

Way to be proactive Fifa.

I remember a right back keeping the goal from being offsides.

It's like this is the first world cup where there have been some really bad calls.

Yeah, because I wasn't joking about that one. You need to get England's dick out of your mouth. They were second best in the game. If you're good enough to get a result, get one.

On the goal kick? I guess I need to see that again. Not trying to argue, but I didn't know that.

I think most would agree that REQUIRING that officials come from EVERY corner of the world waters down the pool of referees! That is the problem AND that won't change.

I think he's talking about the game against Australia.

Really?? I can think of lots of times in the past three years, where offsides were missed resulting in goals, and when good goals were disallowed. It's just the world cup so it gets more attention.

Yes, both were off and it wasn't close.

Really, what games were determined by bad calls? While I think FIFA is an evil, corrupt body... they do sort of have a point. OK, the US got hosed, but they won the group anyway. Evened out in the wash. Italy got a gift against New Zealand... but they were eliminated anyway, so once again... a wash.

Both calls yesterday were horrid, but the losers lost by a combined 7-2. And honestly, it could have been worse in both games.

While I'd like to see a move towards more of the best refs instead of the "whole world regardless of how dodging the officiating is" strategy. I think two referees is absolutely needed to cover the whole field (the NHL recently went from one ref to two... and it's been a great success). I'm agnostic on instant replay, considering they don't even review fouls in the NFL. But I will say that this WC has been MUCH better overall about offsides. The AR's in 2006 were beyond incompetent.

But I really don't any team is currently at home right now because of bad calls or any team is still here because of it. In the end, it did even out and we have a just quarters field. I hate to say FIFA is ever right, but they sort of are. What has been the harm?

well, no team is guaranteed a "next game" at this point. one well place shaft now is enough to send you home.

Sure, but it HASN'T HAPPENED. which is sort of my point. Even on Sunday, with two absolutely terrible calls (though I will admit that live I didn't think England had scored... it wasn't until replay I saw the ball cross), the aggreived teams really have no case seeing as they were thoroughly dismantled.

We're still waiting for a terrible call to send a team home unjustly. I'm not saying this should be the standard before you reform - I clearly stated I believe in officiating reform -but no team has a case that they got eliminated by the refs.

You can't say team A got robbed of a goal but still lost by three so it doesn't matter. A goal and/or disallowed goal completely changes the game. You know that. Of Germany's three goals one was way offside and two were direct results of counter attacks because England was chasing a game it theoretically could have been winning 2-1 if the refs/linesmen did their job. I don't know how the game would have turned out if Germany wasn't given a goal and England weren't robbed of one, but to say it had no impact on the outcome is absurd.

I know. And that's what I have no patience for. Germany kicked the holy hell out of England. They had multiple chances in the last 15 inutes they didn't even pursue because they were up so far. Germany, had they wanted to, could have scored about 8 goals in that game, it seemed. It was a thorough arse kicking.

Reform officiating? I'm with you. Bitch about England being wronged? How about you not give up four goals?

Lampard was the best player on the field yesterday and I really don't care about England. They were 3rd or 4th on my pecking order of teams I would like to see win, I just hate incompetence.

No he wasn't. The best player on the field for England, but not in the game.

Scored a great goal, set up another with a great run down the line, beat Neuer from about 40 yards out on a free kick, and forced Neuer into a great/lucky save getting on the end of a cross at the near post. Much better than Muller's cherry picking two goals on counter attacks.

Lampard didn't do half as much for England as Ozil did for Germany.
