I have to give all the credit to this guys tactics though. I conceded 1 goal in 6 games and killed people with gegenpressing and the counter attack. If you like to counter (I've always been better at that than tika taka) then I highly recommend these custom tactics. I run it from the wide 4-1-2-1-2 with Bradley at CDM, pace wide, Martins and Dos Santos up top and Giovinco at the number 10.
I'll have to try those. I'm definitely a counter player more so than tiki taka.
I started a Charlton Athletic MM a while back. It's now 2021 and I've finally been promoted to the Premier League. I really struggled the last few years. I decided to invest most of my money into youth. I only rotated my scouts between the UK and Ireland, at first. I figured that was more realistic than sending them worldwide- then I sent 1 to Brazil for 9 months in season 3.
I'm running a 4-3-3. My youth gems are at LW, CAM, CM, CB, and GK.
I've also single-handedly made the Scottish national team good. The youth players are somewhere around this:
LW: Scottish, 20 y/o, 77 OVR
CAM: Scottish, 21 y/o, 81 OVR
CM: English, 20 y/o, 78 OVR (nasty FK skills)
CB: Scottish, 21 y/o, 81 OVR (6'6" and looks like Pique
GK: Brazilian, 19 y/o, 80 OVR (Potential 92-94)
I also used "Sign on Contract Expiry" to sign Origi and Højbjerg. My team is probably rated about ATT: 79 MID: 80 DEF: 79. My goal for the season is to qualify for Europe. Not sure I'll succeed, but it's been a good run.

i play almost exclusively with an MLS squad on ultimate team. im in division 2 right now and it's pretty tough. i pretty much just buy packs and play draft mode, which i find quite fun. will probably never save enough coins to buy more expensive players, too boring and not worth it.

OK, so I've decided to stay with Kaiserslautern for now and go all out for the Bundesliga title in 2020-21. I got a good bit of money from coming in 2nd the season before as well as making it to the knockout stage of the Champions League (lost to Chelsea in the Round of 16 2-2 via the away goal rule).
I also sold high on a few youth academy graduates who had high potential but didn't have the overall rating or physical abilities to justify a place in the rotation.
It's all about going right after Bayern's jugular, and my big declaration of war was... wait for it...
Signing Bastian Schweinsteiger on a free.
Yup. United didn't want to re-sign a 36-year old Basti, and even though his speed is in the low 50s, I needed a stronger force in the central midfield to match with my star signing from the previous season, Pajtim Kasami from Olympiacos.
My team in the previous season had issues with injuries (Leroy Sane broke his leg, Wil Trapp had a couple of injuries, Rivaldo Coetzee had yet another knee injury, and Tonny Vilhena missed the first half of the season), so my goal was to get more high-quality players without necessarily selling first-teamers.
So, without further ado, this is the first team that I'm going to go after Bayern with:
- We broke the bank for Romelu Lukaku. He wound up costing $40 million from an Everton team that had finished in seventh the season before in the EPL. But with the way he can dribble, run and score from the wing as well as tuck in the middle, it's totally worth it. He also is great at pressing high and taking the ball away from defenders for quick counters.
- Pajtim Kasami was $30 million the season before. I've reached the stupid stats portion of the game's progression, which means he can be in the 90s in both dribbling and passing statistics.
- Daniel Agger was around $8 million to $10 million last season, too. Can't remember the exact figure. He still has good speed for an older guy, which is what I wanted out of a left-footed center back. When I decided to switch to a tight 4-3-3 instead of the 3-4-3, he took a CB spot while Blind moved to CDM. I loaded up on young guys for most of this career, so I didn't mind taking a chance on higher rated older players such as Blind, Basti and Agger because they're so smooth to play with in game.
- Reminder that Mathoho is actually the South African FIFA gawd himself, Rivaldo Coetzee. Although he keeps getting hurt nearly every season, he's still a high potential player for me, meaning he's progressing like crazy in training.
- If Phillip Kehrer (youth academy product on the bench...forgot to change the logo to Kaiserslautern) was quicker, he'd be a Ballon D'Or finalist by now. One of those 88-94 potential academy players who was in the 70s overall by the time he was 17. He backs up Green right now because Green is quicker and, well, American.
- As of right now, I have eight academy products (including Delgado and Kehrer) that are rated 70 or higher, with eight more between 65 and 70.
- I have a 69 overall, 20-year-old German CM with an 88 in speed, a 5-star in weak foot and a 4-star in skill moves with mid-70s in finishing and dribbling. He'd be better than Kehrer if I could change his position to winger.
- There's also a 73 overall, 21-year-old American RW with a 93 in speed, 5-star in skill moves and 4-star in weak foot. His last name is also Delgado, and he has a sick set of dreads in game. My goalie's younger brother is ridiculous, y'all. Needless to say, I have as much fun blistering teams with an all-academy lineup in Pokal and league games against bottom-half teams as I do with my first choice squad.

I used the find a future star thing at the beginning of my first season with union Berlin, and then let the kid sit in the academy until he demanded I sign him at the end of my second season. So I have a 76 rated 16 year old with 5 star weak foot starting at CAM for my first season in the bundesliga
Renato Sanches, eat your heart out.
I got lucky with a shitty scout finding a high potential player who demanded he be promoted to the first team a bit earlier, and he's either 16 or 17 with 74 overall and five star skill moves (that I will never take advantage of because I can't really figure out skill moves, when to use them, and which ones are the best to use, let alone moves that require five stars to execute).

Same. I know how to use to like two or three moves effectively. Other than that, nada.

i've won division one (H2H, i don't play FUT) on fifa 13 and 14 and almost did in 16 a few weeks ago and i never use skill moves
there are like 3-4 that can really be effective, but a fake shot (that i never use) is more effective than almost anything
*ETA: in my experience, guys often get really good at 1-2 skill moves and then basically base their play off that. i give up lots of early "gotcha" goals with well-placed skill moves and it's just part of the game. i don't even get mad anymore

He alone makes me want to start my "try to win the UCL in one of the second-tier leagues" idea with Benfica.

If you want a real challenge start one with Anderlecht. Youri Tielemans grows into at least a 90 ovr. 5 star weak foot and he can already crush the ball at 18. 85/80 on shot power and long shots. Good defender too, he ends up being the best player on the game
Keeping him at Anderlecht could be a chore though
*one of their strikers has a 5* weak foot too, and the other one can fly. Come to think of it, it may not be that challenging to win it with Anderlecht

Yeah, I posted about the plan a few pages back. Take a team with super high players in potential, dominate the domestic league and either sell them for ridiculous prices to build a better overall squad or keep them locked in.
Ajax, PSV, Porto, Benfica work. I think Mr Personality mentioned Anderlecht and even Basel when I first threw it out there.

I kind of did the opposite in my first manager mode this year. I started one with Liverpool and basically sold everyone off in order to fund acquisitions of guys with high potential.
I started another one a few weeks ago with Fulham. The transfer budget crisis is real
I bought Obafemi Martens because you can't win without scoring goals. Last match I played was a win over Chelsea in a cup semifinal, that's gone on the back burner to FUT since then though

The good thing with Fulham, though, is that you'll make a ton of money once you get up and stay up in the Premier League.

fricking FIFA still doesn't have the Turkish cup.
A league with van Persie, Sneijder, Gomez, Eto'o etc. needs more respect.

Ghana still doesn't have a national team in the game. Consistently one of the best teams in Africa with players in some of the best leagues in the world and they can't supplant the likes of India, New Zealand, and Slovenia.
The ticos have players at Real Madrid and Arsenal amongst others and they aren't in the game. frick Ghana and Costa Rica, but still, they should be playable teams in the game

That's why I loved the World Cup game. Every single national team is on there, and most of the prominent ones were licensed.
They can put way more on there than they actually have, but don't for some reason.

well i officially hit an online funk
i've been toiling in div 2 primarily for weeks and almost stayed up once i got to div 1. then i rip through div 2 and fall 1 or 2 points short of promotion. then i start div 2 0-0-5. i'm currently at 2-0-6 and have to win the last 2 to stay up.
i remember on old games i'd play for weeks and dominate and then get into these funks where i just couldn't score and i'd end up falling to like div 4 and quit for a few months. looks like i still got it

Two "issues" that drive me mad...
There are times when it either rains or snows for like 10 straight matches
There are times when as soon as the match starts I can tell that my squad isn't moving as well and the controls don't feel as "tight"

Play with Ajax, their stadium has a roof

Same thing happens to me. Form is real on FIFA.

If you're playing career, you can change the weather in options before the start of the match. Can even change time, too.
