This post is GOLD. Obviously someone who knows nothing about football, but has seen the American hype of recent years, paid a bit of attention, and realizes they know nothing about it, but at the same time, know there is something of merit to it.

So much better than MLS, which I support because it's our league and is improving, a Tampa Bay Rowdies fan, used to be a Mutiny fan when they were around. International game so much more exciting, as is World Cup, (the supreme football spectacle), because of course when you throw in "playing for your county" it ratchets up the match to untold levels of suspense. The crowd support is unreal - love it!

I see you understand the sport, it wasn't evident from your post.
The Euros are intense, football for football freaks, the WC is a spectacle to behold (and many a time, especially in later stages, football for football freaks as well, but the initial pairings aren't of a similar quality level as in the Euro).

I accept the MLS for what it is. Football will never be a massive sport here like it is in Europe and elsewhere. Soccer specific stadiums have given it a more professional air than playing in football stadiums. I'm a fan, wish Tampa would get a team again but that ain't happening. Love to watch the teams in the northwest, a buddy of mine is from the area. He tells me fans are nuts up there and you can see it from watching matches with Portland, Seattle and Vancouver. So bring the hate.

The MLS will never be the quality of the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, or probably Ligue 1.
But I could see it becoming the fourth biggest sport in the country one day. It might be because I'm from the South, but I think we can pass hockey.

Based on demographics, Tampa ought get another shot at successfully founding and supporting a club.
Miami certainly will have a major player in the MLS.

Florida's just riddled with fair weather fans. This league needs places like Seattle, Portland, and Kansas City to survive. Dedicated and passionate. Miami didn't give that the first go 'round.

No doubt, and I have to admit, for some reason this is the first time I have really followed Euro, obviously because of ESPN, who I genuinely think do a pretty good job and don't talk down to football fans.
Question for all, ESPN or Fox coverage of football, which do you prefer and why, because if I'm not mistaken, Fox will be taking over WC in 2014 or is that 2018?

We only get about 3,000 per match for the Rowdies, who have a history down here. Don't see MLS returning, Miami maybe, but that could be a stretch also. We both had our shot.
