re: Euro 2012

I'm going to get racial, but in a pragmatic way.

This country doesn't support football (soccer) because it's an English invention, and until recently (two generations max), DNA descendants, plus Scots and later Irish, weren't given to supporting something which could be associated with the former rulers.

American sports took off and flourished, and dominated, football was seen as 100% foreign, and therefore, not of interest.

What could be considered white trash, have escalated in the economic echelon and embraced many other devices (especially aesthetic and social) of the former ruler.

Football has always been big in the other major countries which populated this country, namely Germany (the real DNA base of this country) and the Low Countries (Belgium, Holland), and even the blacks, who are now our elite athletes (previously they were the Jews), are enthralled with it, as they see it's not so easy as it looks.

Finally, and quite importantly, the massive influx of hispanics, coupled with the previous massive immigration of Sicilians (and to a lesser extent, other Italians), has given pivotal support to the sport, and it is now unstoppable.

Spain has provided nothing directly (there are very, very few people of Spanish descent in this country), but indirectly, due to it's former colonies, and the pride hispanics of this country have, in seeing Spain dominate the world scene for the last six years or so.

The Asians who are now of great influx, also love the sport, with a passion.

The USA inevitably will be a power in the world's greatest sport.

I don't think there is anyone I WANT to see, or don't want to see win for that matter. I just enjoy the games regardless of who is playing. I THINK it will be Germany.
