Saving one poorly struck penalty out of five? Hardly anything to brag about.

Scoring one? Not really a quality you factor in when rating goalkeepers I would think. Plus I could score a penalty way more times than not.

Fact is he cost his team the game by getting beat by a header at his near post by a guy running away from the goal 10 yards out.

i think you are the first person i've heard say manu lost the UCL for his team, so i guess congrats on that. I would disagree though, drogba was lurking on the 6 yard box and hit a laser that neuer actually blocked, if he wouldve been off the line a little bit it probably wouldve hit the bar. if he saved that everyone wouldved jizzed their pants over how great of a reflex save it was. i would say the strikers pissing away 30 shots and robben missing a pk in extra time cost the team the game, but everyone is open to their own opinion

Of course their horrible shooting didn't help but fact is, and I guarantee he would tell you the same thing, a keeper of his level should make that save 99% of the time. He was standing in perfect position at his near post the ball came right at him and his reaction wasn't fast enough. He's a great keeper and that was a great header but that was a goal that shouldn't happened.

99% of keepers save that shot? You've got to be joking. Neuer is about 6'6 and barely got a hand on it. Most other keepers in the world are 6'2-6'3 and they don't have the near reactions that neuer has. It was a great strike and a near impossible save since he was moving to his right with the cross.

Moving to his right? He never took one step to his right. He could see the cross was coming to the near post and was standing right there. He was standing exactly where he needed to be to make that save. If you don't think Neuer should make that save you have less respect for him than I do.

People can make mistakes. His reactions were way to slow. There is no way he shouldn't have been able to palm that over the bar pretty easily.

It was a great strike

Yes.

near impossible save

No. Even the announcers made multiple comments about it.
