re: EPL's 2011/12 Top 10 Goals

1. Crouch. The touch to set up the shot meant he knew exactly what he was doing.
2. Cisse. Granted you have to have incredible technique to even have a chance of that ball going in but if it came to him like that 10 times I think maybe 2 go in. So not to say that it as lucky but there was certainly an element of luck to it.
3. RVP
these 3 are by far the tops for me. 75% of strikers in the EPL could make the Suarez goal half the time if they were in that spot, had the cajones to try it, and the goalie was out of position.

Crouch's goal should be ahead of the Suarez goal, but otherwise I'm ok with that list.

In that exact situation, highly doubtful... Most would have put it wide, over shot, under shot, etc... There is a reason you dont see that all the time.
Not saying Suarez didnt have a bit of luck, but so did Crouch and Cisse... He knew exactly what he was trying to do.

In that exact situation recreated I could easily see a 20ish% success rate from strikers in the EPL, compared to maybe a 1% for crouch's and cisse's goals and maybe 10% for RVP's goal.

There's been a goal like Suarez almost every year. Figueroa, beckham and Bentley have all had better goals catching keepers off their lines near the half way line IMO. Definite top 10 but probably wouldn't make my top 5 this year.

The difference is I think anytime a keeper is chipped from halfway, yes it takes incredible accuracy, but it is a goalkeeper mistake. Not trying to take anything away from Suarez it was a great goal and great way to seal the hat trick. I just think crouch, cisse and Rvps goals are in a different class

The real reason you don't see them more often is that it's not often that professional keepers aren't usually so unprepared/lackadaisical.. The best goals are the ones the keeper just had no chance to stop even though he was in the right position etc.
I.E. Crouch/Cisse/RVP just perfectly placed balls.
Also I would rate Ben Arfa's goal higher on the list.. because I personally just love watching those type of goals.
ETA: Apparently we had the same idea at the same time..

Not a chance in hell

You are literally just making up numbers
I'm saying more strikers convert RVP's volley than Suarez's chip.

I dont disagree, xabi had one, too... interestingly enough, none strikers... But, I'm also comparing it to this years goals only and in the run of play, one touch and chip... it was sweet (especially in the rain, etc.)
Torres had a similar goal to Crouch's against Blackburn that was better, but another year...
Anyway, they were all great goals...

If Suarez's goal is number 2, shouldn't Timmay's be number 1?

Timmy wasnt shooting on goal, I think there is a huge difference... but thats just me...

Just watched it. Similar? A bit. Nowhere near degree of difficulty of crouch's goal though. Crouch was outside the box, close to the touch line and facing away from goal, a team mate heads it down to him and his first touch to set up the volley was unbelievable not to mention the lob over the keeper that dips just in time to hit the top corner

close to the touch line
you need to watch it again... maybe a yard and half further out than torres
By the way, I'm just arguing out of boredom, nothing personal...

I, for one, am just glad that there is ZERO Liverpool bias/subjectivity in this thread.

Id expect a good striker to bring that ball down out of the air and put it on frame. I would never expect anyone to do what crouch did, I guess maybe that's the difference to me. The goal was atleast 10 yards further out though and he had half of the other time between him and the goal. Not to mention the keeper saw it all the way and could do nothing.
Same

It was wet, he hit it in stride, and the ball hit the back of the net in the air.
It was hardly a Seedorf rocket shot, but it was a very difficult goal, nonetheless

This is silly, I normally have nothing but disdain for Suarez but it has nothing to do with what kind of goals I value more.
