Well, shite.

At what point do our guys start to talk to each other on the pitch and move the ball?

They play like the youth clubs I train my kids to play against. Ball watching, waiting for their turn at a 1 on 1. There's not much movement off the ball, and when there is, the ball is stuck at someone's feet.

Example: Pulisic gets an outlet pass on the US side of midfield, and with his first touch plays himself into a double team. Does he tap the ball into space for the two USA runners who have nobody in front of them but the Canadian center back planted in the 18? Of course not. He tries to dribble out, loses the ball, then gets pissed at the next US player that tried to 1 on 1 after winning a loose ball.

I see that at the u13 level, and I coach my players to play at a higher level than that. Their training exercises are designed to develop the habits and technicality needed to play together and exploit other teams. Why are these guys so poorly trained and coached?

I know it's the symptom of the US youth system, but ffs why can't adults be taught a system to play?

Seriously tho, is that style of ball prevalent around the country? I haven't seen much outside of AZ.

He would do it at Dortmund too. The skills are undeniable, but at that level you can't play FIFA.
