I agree that Miami sucks as a sports town.

However, it is a world class city that foreign players have expressed interest in living and playing. If MLS can establish a successful club in Miami, it could elevate the status of the league significantly. So they are going to shoot for it.

Garber's criteria:

In a statement issued by the league, Garber laid out the criteria the league will use in determining future expansion markets. Among them is location, committed and engaged ownership, a comprehensive stadium plan, demonstrated fan support for professional soccer, support of sponsors and TV partners, and a strategic business plan for launching a club.

Does he know that an MLS team failed there in the past and the crowds for the other teams down there suck? If the Heal didn't have James and Wade I figure the stadium would be half full. I know it's a glamor city and those are the kind of places that big name players want to go since right now the only teams getting big names are LA and New York. If that team can't sign big names right away and win then you are only going to get 10k at games at best.

Late to the party, but doesn't Indianapolis have a plan in place for a stadium?

They have a club team starting next year. Not sure if it's NASL or USL.
