call me a jackass but do any of these people come off as trying very hard to jump on a trend? i spotted 2 guys in those photos of BR AO who i've seen play over at premier indoor in st gabriel and they haven't a flipping clue about the most basic aspects of the game such as off-ball movement, how to properly strike the ball, the most basic of formation (such as offense vs defense). one of them told me at the bar he's never played until this year, yet he apparently is a hardcore expert fan at the Londoner, decked out in his gear. Not saying everyone in a fan club must be a C Ronaldo, but c'mon man.

Seems a lot of people think if they sit at home and play FIFA they become experts.

From what I've heard, that's going to happen for all US games.

hence me putting in the last line about C Ronaldo...however, i find it bemusing that several of these blokes masquerade around town (and now in the media) as diehards and super fans when they have no first hand knowledge of the game, even if it was experience in pee wee or bar leagues.

I understand it can get frustrating that someone who is somewhat clueless is talking about how great of a fan they are...but is it really that big of a deal? Especially for USA soccer. We are trying to build soccer fandom in the city, state, country, etc., so who really cares if someone is saying publicly they are a fan? Does it really hurt anyone? Everyone had to get started somewhere. I've actually never been to a Men's National Team match, does that mean I shouldn't be allowed to go to Brazil? Because I'm going and I'm gonna be crazy loud, dress up, at like a fricken lunatic even though many of the people I'll be around have gone to dozens of games.
