New format: Eight groups of three teams each, only group winners will advance.

Wasn't aware they were going to three-team groups this year. Glad the Sounders are not in a group with a Mexican club.

Why is that? Is Olimpia no longer any good? It's one of the most popular teams here in New Orleans. And FAS have been good before, too. I was about to state that Dynamo have a tough group. But I haven't followed like I used to.

I love this format. After working this tournament for CONCACAF for a few years, it was very obvious that travel was just an absolute nightmare in this region. For all teams involved.
Reducing the number of group games is a great thing for all. Should increase the quality as well since there is less room for error.
